How long does it take for a design to be completed?

The time frame in which a site is built depends much on the needs of the client. If a client has a site that needs to be done quickly, we can have the design done in as little as a day. However, it should be noted that web design is a creative process. Taking more time improves the quality of a site.

How long would it take for my site to be completed?

A site may take a few days, or many months, depending on the size of the site, how quickly a client will get content to us, revisions, etc. Without oversimplifying, we can say this: The more prepared a client is (in terms of content/images), the sooner a site is done. To go along with this, smaller sites can be completed more quickly. There are other variables, but these are the big two.

Do I want a static or a dynamic site?

To answer this, we must first explain the difference between static and dynamic sites.

Static Sites: Content is not changed frequently (a few times a year), and requires individual html pages to be changed. The client needs to be set up with proper software for this, or this is done by the designer (hourly rate). Static sites are far less expensive initially, but usually (not always) have higher maintenance costs. Preferred for small sites.

Dynamic Sites: Content is logged in a database, which is then output to separate sections of the site. Massive content changes are simple, and can usually be done from any computer. Dynamic sites are expensive to set up, but give the client more control over the content, are easier to edit, and have lower maintenance costs. Preferred for large sites.

Which is right for me?: Ask yourself, "How often will the information on my site change?" If you are going to have weekly menus, it's probably in your best interests to have a dynamic site. If you are just looking to have a website to display information/pictures, but that information won't change more than a few times a year, a static site is going to be better for you.

I would like you to design my site. What do I need to do now / what is the process?

If you would like us to design/develop your site, let us know what domain name you would like to use (check availability here), explain what the site is for, and inform us of any requirements/desires you may have.

We will make a mock up of the site for you to see, and then revise it together. Once we have decided on a design, you would send us all the content/images for the site, and we would put it all together. Once it is all done, you look over it, and we make any last revisions before the site goes live.

What do I need to do about a domain name and hosting?

If you do not already have a domain name, and a hosting account, you simply provide us with the domain name that you would like, and we will take care of selecting the best hosting plan to suit your needs. You will need to renew your domain name and hosting plan every year or so.

How much would it cost for you to build my site?

Price is something that is dependent on the type of site you want (static or dynamic), the scale of the project, and how long it takes. If things are finished in reasonable amount of time, the end price will be close to the quoted price. A simple static site will usually place you in the $300-$700 ballpark.

What services do I get for my money?

You get the site designed, with two revisions. Then you get the site built, with one revision. That is to say, when we submit the design, after you look at, we will redesign it for you twice if you don't like it. Once it is built, and everything is in place, we will go through it and make major content changes, and minor design changes, once.

Do you need a deposit?

We ask for a 25% deposit on all but the most simple static sites.
